early 1940s ?
This fine,
stone-dressed, brick pub sat at the junction of Alt Street (right) with Solway Street
(foreground) .
The picture is taken from a postcard which
refers to "the war" my date is a guess. Fading
means that a few details are unclear. The edges have been restored
based on the faded image, there appears to be a flag pole on the
gable end of the building. This pub has now been demolished.
