1912 This pub needs further research as
it seems that the building at shown, number 2, is not the original Greenland
Arms.
The 1946 Gore shows it on the corner of St James Street and
Greenland
Street as No2 Greenland Street (not showing in St James St.) Early directories
however place the Greenland Arms at No22 - in the middle of a block of buildings,
not on a corner - although on the same side of the road. The pub shown, is clearly
a corner building, so it seems that the former Wine and Spirit vaults at
number 2 has been rechristened with the name of the pub from 22 when that vanished
from the directory listings.
