The Farmers Arms (left) on the corner of Park Road / Gelling St, was an opulent pub inside. It had a back room with a stage called the Ponderosa room.

Ricky Tomlinson and a band called the Silver Set were resident in the late 1960s.

Strange that the Farmers is now gone while the light trade local pub, The Globe, a few yards down is still going.
