Sited on the corner of Eden Street and Lodge Lane (74,76
& 78 Lodge Lane according to 1938 Gore) this
was traditionally the 'Coach and Horses' but later came to be called 'The
Sportsmans'.
Although the facade is modern, it would appear
that a new ground floor extension has actually been added to the front
of the old pub. A side view, in Eden Street, actually shows old, repointed brickwork.
It was there in 2005 but the area has been largely flattened within recent
years. The Sportsman was closed, shuttered and looked to have been
burned out.
