The site of this pub is steeped in history, sitting as it did, close to
the boundary of the Park. Named for the adjacent Upper Brook
which still flows underground at the edge of the car park.
The present building replaced an earlier one which occupied a site slightly
closer to the city centre, in the 18th
Century.
The brook flowed to the east of the original
building but is to the west of the present one.
