This is not listed in the 1860 Gore,
there being a gap
in numbering from 77 to 81. The junction does however show a chapel, which
is still found here in later directories. It can be seen that the
design of the rear and far side of this building is very different
to that of the front, (look at the window shape for instance), suggesting
that the school is converted from the earlier chapel.
The
school opened in 1865 and retained its earliest name of the 'Wesleyan Methodist Day and Sunday School' in the
1911 Gore, though it is called ' Windsor Street Council School' in the 1926
and 1938 Gore, when it is found between 77 and 79 Windsor Street.
It is intact and cared for, but is now surrounded by modern housing.
