The Liverpool
records office states that the Liverpool City Sanatorium for Tuberculosis was located on South Hill Street and existed from
around 1897 until about 1924.
They hold the gate book under the reference number 614 LCS. It is thought that this must in fact be South Hill Road and that this is perhaps part of the little-documented Park Hill hospital for Infectious diseases shown on map 6c from the 1905-08 map series. The Tuberculosis Consultative Committee came into being in 1912 to report on the prevention and treatment of T.B. in Liverpool and an Institute at 365 Park Road opened in May 1913. This remained in use until the start of WWII. |
