unknown A photograph of the exterior of the Tubercular Institute which occupied 365, Park Road, Toxteth Park. Park Road is here shown with tram-lines and cobbles, note two ladies in long dresses on the drive of No367. The Tuberculosis Consultative Committee came into being in 1912 to report on the prevention and treatment of T.B. in Liverpool and the Institute opened in May 1913. It remained in use until the start of WWII. The institute was a grand, Georgian building with a large garden to the front. There were similar large buildings on either side of the institute. The two situated to the right of this picture (numbers 367 and 369) are HERE. This portion of Park Road, from Peel Street down to the Ancient Chapel. is, in older directories, labelled as Dingle Hill but still numbered as Park Road. |
