This is the covered reservoir originally belonging to the Toxteth
and Harrington Waterworks company. It was built in 1855
(1) and is sited between 'Toxteth
Town Hall' and the Catholic chuch of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Letitia
Street runs between. In earlier times this, the highest point in
Toxteth, was the source of the Dingle Brook which rans into the
Mersey at Knotts Hole.
The covered reservoir retaining walls and corner tower
have been listed grade II buildings since 1975.
