The waters of the Lower and Upper
Brooks meet at the head of the boating lake in Sefton Park and keep
the lake filled. The overflow is at the Aigburth Road end of the
lake and it passes, in a culvert, under Aigburth Road to emerge
here in Otterspool Park.
This final section is what
the 17th Century Puritan settlers called 'The River Jordan'.
It once flowed on through the Otters Pool into the Mersey. The
Toxteth Park boundary followed this river
