 There's a bit of artistic licence in this painting.
The viewpoint seems to be
on the cliffs above the Dingle Shore to the south of Knott's Hole, looking
towards David's Throne & the Alcove; you can see the mouth of
the Dingle Stream in front of the headland. In reality the pretty view across the river to
Wirral would
be blocked by Dingle Point, but artists are well known for rearranging
things for a good picture and Herdman copied many such local
pictures for posterity.
