1920s (?) This shows Grove Cottage looking from Mill Street. Older residents of the area have identified the single storey building, just behind Grove Cottage, as a Mission Hall. This is confirmed by the 1954 OS map, which shows the building to be on the corner of Grain Street and Mill Street. In the 1930s it was called the Workman's Mission, and it appears as such in trade directories of the time but the 1906 and 1927 OS maps identify it as a school.
