To those who have wondered why so many people have enthused as to the former beauty of Dingle Glen, here is a possible answer. This atmospheric photograph shows the valley of the Dingle stream shortly before it flows into the Mersey at Knotts Hole A trace of the former flow still appears visible centre screen, although the stream is now lost. In the 100 or so years since this photograph was taken, this once idyllic glen has been cleared of trees, filled by refuse tipping and levelled for the construction of a playground. |
