Upper Hill Street

4th November 1968

The exact placement of this photograph has now been confirmed by John Burns, with my thanks. It follows on from the coloured shot below.

This is a view down Upper Hill St, just where the road changes angle at Gibson Street. The bend in the pavement is the kick and the junction of Gibson St is just off shot. The high rise block is Windsor Towers, erected 1960/61.

In front of the high rise the solitary building, that looks like a pub, is thought to be The Grecian, on the far side of the Berkley Street junction.

The shops in the right foreground are probably numbers 135 (nearest) to 127 (furthest) the houses beyond will continue this numbering. This may be checked in the directories section.
