Steble Street has always been a short street, it still is. It is best known for its Public Baths and Wash House.  These were opened in 1871 and modernised in 1930.

The buildings are still there, extended and in use as a sports centre, but a fine building has been preserved.

Below: Steble Street baths and public wash-house have now become a sports centre but left is how they once were.
