Smithdown Road - Kenyon Road

April 30th 1905

This is looking back towards the city. On the far left is the original St. Barnabas Church which was within Toxteth (the present one on Allerton Road is later and outside the boundary, though much of its parish remains inside Toxteth proper).

Next you can make out the tram sheds and the rows of terraced housing under construction are Kenyon Road.

In the central skyline is the chimney of the Smithdown Road Destructor. The little inverted mushroom shapes are old electric light fittings, the details of the wires having been almost lost on the picture.
