This view is from the end of The Elms, looking down   Peel Street (and downhill) towards Park Road, the rising street on the other side of Park Road is South Hill Road.

The photograph clearly shows the small valley which Park Road occupies at this point.  It is in fact the valley of the Dingle Brook which rose around High Park Street and flowed down the line of what is now Park Road before carrying on through the Dingle Estates to the Mersey.  There are few places were this little valley is better seen than from this spot  in Peel Street.
