Park Road - junction of Park Street|

September 1968 This was originally sent to me labelled 'Park Place' but it is Park Road with the junction of Park Street (the latter is just behind the pub LHS). The pub is "The Toxteth". Its vaulted entrance, offset paired windows, projecting front, crenellated edges and the characteristic shape of chimney stacks and chimney arrangement can still be seen today. There was a second pub more or less behind the fire engine, the Crown Vaults. The properties shown centre screen numbered around 130, the properties behind the right hand fire engine would be shops including number 128, the home of Mary McGrevy, James McGrevy, Lilian Williams and Edward Christian for 60 odd years. |
