1905

This is the view from the very bottom of Park Road at its junction with Ullet Road. The viewer is standing more or less in the valley of the Dingle Stream. The Turner Home is covered elsewhere.  The Gaumont Cinema was to be built right of screen.

This view is significant as it shows two lamp posts one of which is alluded to by Robert Griffiths as being the place where the poet, critic and educationist Matthew Arnold died from a heart attack in April 1888 whilst on a visit to his sister (who had become Mrs Susan Cropper by marriage).
