28th July 1909
Running perfectly straight from Smithdown
Road to Croxteth Road, this wide road of elegant houses
and mansions skirts the eastern-most edge of Toxteth Cemetery.
The
near church on the left with scaffolding on the spire, is St
Bedes which still stands, in the distance is a spire, thought
to belong either to the Hartington
Road Congregational Church (which is not known to have a spire).or
to St. Dunstans on Earle Road, which does. Whilst the horses have left
their signatures on the roadway, the gutters show that litter is
not just a modern problem, and in close-up individual cigarette ends can
be even be seen.
