1920s Warwick Street is to the right. The old building the corner was used as a dairy for many years. The tall building, had been St Thomas's National School, built in the 1840s. St Thomas's Church stood on the adjacent corner. The school had left the building by the 1920s and in the 1930, it was occupied by Johnson and Pelter, paper merchants (St Thomas' Works). At 123-137 Grafton Street can he seen some early Corporation dwellings, built in 191l. All of this neighbourhood is now covered with recent housing. |
