The first street visible left is Plevna Street ( Balkan
Street would be just off the left of this picture). In the distance
(left) is a large building set back off the road and covered in
scaffolding, it is the 'Hospital female paupers'.
Note the outcrops on the right of the natural red sandstone
which is at the surface. Also the sandstone wall which had
already been repaired and infilled when this picture was taken,
80 years ago. It surrounds
another a property called 'Brookfield Cottage'.
