This opened in 1922 on the site
of an old furniture repository which was destroyed by fire.
In terms
of geography and potential audience it was caught between The Rialto and The
Gaumont and was apparently restricted to showing re-runs and older films.
The
company (who also owned The Grand, on Smithdown Road) was eventually taken over
and finally this became a Rank Organisation Cinema. It was closed, along with
the Grand, by Rank in in 1956. The building was later demolished.
