Asbridge Street in 1988, looking up to Lodge Lane.

This street survived the era of mass demolition intact, with its houses refurbished instead of demolished.

Before Asbridge Street was laid out in the1890's, the site was occupied by a series of ropesheds which ran from Lodge Lane to Alt Street.  Mallon's ropery was last used to manufacture ships' rope fenders in the 1920's & 30's before closing down, and by the 1950's there was nothing remaining.
