Cantsfield
Street is right of shot.
This former church
is on Earle Road, and has been difficult to name, as its purpose
and naming have both changed throughout its history. I have
chosen to call it by its original name, by which is also appears
to have been known at the time of the 1905-08 map series. Its history
is below.
David
Lewis in his 'Churches of Liverpool' refers to an
'Earle Road United Reform Church', I do not believe that he
is referring to
this building, nor do I think that his usage is correct, as he is
clearly refering to the Earle
Road Presbyterian Church higher up Earle Road,
a building which has never, to my knowledge, been called the United Reform Church.
For
much of the history of the building shown, it has been a premises
associated with the Salvation Army although even then its exact
purpose within that movement appears to have changed frequently
