The Renshaw Street Unitarian Chapel was built in
1811 and was in use until 1899 when the congregation moved to a newly
built church in Ullet Road.
The present building was opened in 1899 and was designed and constructed by
Thomas Worthington and Son of Manchester. This
is now Grade I listed.
The old chapel graveyard was closed for interments in 1858. In 1902
Liverpool Corporation purchased the site of the Renshaw Street
Unitarian Chapel and graveyard and the later was subsequently laid out
as Roscoe Gardens. A record of inscriptions on the gravestones was made
in May 1903 and this appears to be at Liverpool Records office (unchecked).
352 CEM/1/6.
This is dated 1771-1887 so the graveyard may have been in use earlier than the
church.
