From John Burns:-
"Lack of foresight was the case when building St Finbars church in 1961-63.  It was built as the population started to decline even further - this could have easily been assessed by consulting the planning dept, and it was clear many of the older terraced houses would have been demolished"

The church and school do not appear on the 1905 map but St Finbar was adjacent to the 'Sixie' pub (The Mount) on Dingle Mount.  It was situated in front of the undeveloped land on the 1905 map. This was later built upon with the school (St. Finbars).  Dingle Terrace ran between the school and the back of the church.
St Finbar was Apparently made redundant on the latest round of closures announced in 2001. I am told that the church was demolished in 2003.
