St Columbas Presbyterian Church  was erected at the junction of Smithdown Road, Greenbank Drive and Ullet Road, Smithdown Gate  in 1897 by a group of English Presbyterians who split from the Catherine Street Welsh Presbyterian Church. There was seating for 560.

The tower remains but the church closed in the 1950s and much was demolished in the 1980s.  The church body has been replaced by an old peoples' home which matches both the outline and the style of the original building.  This brilliant innovation leaves the view of this junction largely unchanged.
