This building started life in 1833 when it was
founded by a group of Methodists. In the 1843 Gore it
is shown at number 34 Park Place and is simply called a Methodist
Chapel.
1858 the numbering
places it at number 40 and calls it Park Place Methodist Chapel.
The Post Office directory for this year gives "ministers
various" as the occupants. 1860
It stays as number 40, but it is called
Park Place Wesleyan Chapel. 1881
Methodist New Connexion Chapel (their spelling!). New Connexion
Methodists later founded a chapel in Stanley Road. 1911
United Methodist Chapel in and by 1938
number 40 is a Billiards Hall and there is no trace of a church
in trade records after. The building has long been demolished.
