This is sited (outside toxteth)
on Lawrence
Road between Salisbury Road (left) and Alderson Road (right).
The
foundation stone was laid on November 22nd 1902 and the church opened
for worship the following year. Originally this was a United
Methodist church but by the 1950s it was used by the Protestant
Reformers' Church (Martyrs Memorial Church) - but always known
locally simply as the 'Orange Lodge' who, as late as the late 1960s,
would parade with band and drums in the surrounding streets
on Sundays.
The building is not currently in use but retains
much of its original stained glass and the red brick with pale
sandstone sills and ornamentation is still an attractive feature.
