David Street Chapel - David Street

March 2005

A Calvinistic Methodist Church, David Street was laid out on the site of the grounds of the Old Pineapple Inn with the chapel itself more-or-less occupying the site of the inn.

The chapel was built in the late 1870s, and is shown on an 1881 map. It was first called the David Street Welsh Presbyterian Chapel.

The congregation moved to St Johns Wesleyan Church Belvidere Road in 1921, but the building has continued as a chapel ever since, and is currently called David Street Gospel Hall.

They have a website where there are 2 small pictures of the interior, but, unfortunately, nothing further about their history.
