Built in 1871 and designed by Culshaw and Sumners at a timer when this area was being transformed from open land and agriculture, to housing and grand villas adjacent to nearby Princes Park. It seats 850 and is now a grade II listed building.

The villas are still there, split into flats and bedsits, but  this lovely yellow sandstone church seems crammed in.  It seems impossible to get sufficiently far away from it,  to do it justice with a photograph. This shot was taken from East Albert Road.
