1891 for the census he is living alone as a boarder at 140 Wellington Road in Toxteth and is a warehouse clerk.

1894 is when he marries Elizabeth McGrevy in May of 1894, he is then living in Violet Street in Toxteth, Elizabeth is at 128 Park Road.

1894 The couple appear to have set up house at 1 Dorritt Street.  Number 1 Dorritt Street is missing from the 1894 Kelly's directory, so no verification is porrible but they are there for the birth of Lilian Jane Williams in 1894 and Ellen Williams in 1896. The birth of John, circa 1898, is not traced, however for the birth of Robert in 1900 they are at 5 Melrose Avenue, where they are also found for the census in 1901.

A Gas Stoker in the 1901 census, my Dad remembers him always smelling of gas, and tobacco !  For as long as my father can remember they lived in Melrose ROAD and they must have moved from Melrose Avenue, where they are living in the 1901 census, with Lilian 7. Ellen (Auntie Nellie)  5, John (Uncle Jack) 3 and Robert 7 months.  Mary (Auntie Minnie) was not yet born and her birth is not traced, other than to circa 1904 the date being based on her marriage certificate.

1911 Samuel and Elizabeth are missing from Melrose Avenue in the 1911 Gore, someone else is living at number 5 and they are not at another number there. They are not in Melrose Road either at this time, but number 51 is missing from the directory which jumps from 50 to 52, missing 51.  They could well have been living there as early as this, a check of the eletoral roll may confirm this. There are no clearly identifiable Samuel Williams in the alphabetical names in the 1911 Gore either. It is presumed that they has been missed out.

1926, 1934, 1936 Kelly (Gore), Samuel Williams, Gas Worker, 51 Melrose Road.

1938 Kelly (Gore) finds Samuel (and presumably Elizabeth), a Gas Worker, at 51 Melrose Road, in the house remembered by my father.

1940 Samuel died at which time Elizabeth Williams (nee McGrevy) moved to 43 Lambton Road to live with her daughter Mary Burke ( nee Williams -Auntie Minnie). Elizabeth William lived there with her own sister Susan McGrevy. Both ladies died on the same night in 1942 shortly before my father was called up in the September of 1942.
