1891 sees the birth of son Hugh jnr. They are living at 27 Wolfe Street in Toxteth, and on 5 April 1891 for the census they are also at this address. This is the home of Charles McCulloch (father of Hugh's wife, Mary nee McCulloch). There are other McCullochs in the home, siblings of Mary. Also there is Martha, aged 5, father Hugh's step-daughter from Mary's first, short-lived, marriage to George Byrd. Also Jane aged 1. Hugh is shown as being aged 2 months.

1901 The family are at 10 Wolfe Street, Father Hugh is 39 (correct), Mother Mary is 35. With them daughter Jane (11), Hugh is shown as aged 10, Elizabeth (4), Henry (2), Martha Bird (now shown as a step-daughter to Hugh, 14, cigarette maker).

1905 when Mary Edwards was born, the family are still at 10 Wolfe Street, Hugh would be aged 14 is assumed to be with them.

1917 Hugh Edwards married Harriet H Mercer at St Philemon which was the family church at that time. (n.b. on the death certificate the name of Hugh's wife is H. Edwards).

1919 Hugh died of Bronchopneumonia and Cardiac Syncope. Family tradition says that the death was actually during the flu epidemic of the time, which would fit. Age and area for this death fit, Essex Street looks as if it is near Pickwick Street / Park Place, so within the area for the Edward's at the time. Robert McGee is able to confirm that Dr Garry, who signed the death certificate, was the family doctor when he was a child, ( in practice with Dr Kelly untill Dr Garry's death).
