1874 Ellen was born in Liverpool based on 1881 census data.

1881 For the census at 123 Wolfe Street. - Robert (aged 41, wood turner) and Jane (41, dressmaker). Hugh is also a wood turner, siblings of Hugh with the family are John Edwards (14), Elizabeth Edwards(11), Ann Edwards(9), Ellen Edwards(7), William Edwards(5), Alice Edwards (2).

1891 Ellen is no longer with father Robert, the family having dispersed. She would be about 17.

1899 Ellen is a witness on the marriage certificate of her sister, Alice. when Alice marries Magnus Charles Stove.

1900 In October 1900 Robert's daughter Ellen Edwards marries John Heaps, 22, Batchelor of Prescot (b. 1878). John's occupation is Bricklayer. Ellen is aged 27, spinster and gives 33 Eastwood Street, Edge Hill as her address. He father, Robert's, occupation is given as Farm Labourer. (with thanks to Frances). Witness are Sarah J. Campbell and Magnus Charles Stove - Magnus is the husband of Alice Stove (nee Edwards).

33 Eastwood Street is Robert's address in the 1901 census, along with his married daughers Ann Newton (nee Edwards) and Alice Stove (nee Edwards), plus their husbands and children.

After marriage Ellen moved to Prescot and lived there until she died in 1952, she is buried in Prescot churchyard.
