1863 Elizabeth McGrevy was born in Liverpool on 24th December 1863, although born in the last few days of 1863, her birth was not registered until the following February and does not appear until March quarter of 1864 on official records, (W. Derby 8b 304 March 1864).  Elizabeth was born at 47 George Street (=Gelling Street), Toxteth Park, Liverpool.  The birth certificate spell's Elizabeth's surname as McGrevey.  Her father is James McGrevey a shipwright journeyman, her mother's maiden name agrees with the 1871 census as Hayden.

1871 The family are at 59 Gelling Street in the 1871 census under the name of McGravey.  Elizabeth, aged 7, is with all of her known siblings (including sister Ellen who vanishes for the 1881 census due to marriage). With Elizabeth and her parents, James and Mary, are Mary's parents Michael and Ellen Hayden. It has thus been possible to trace Mary's maiden name and re-affirm her London origins.

1881 census. Elizabeth is still with the family although Michael and Ellen have died. Remarkably the rest of the family are still at the same address in Gelling Street.

1891 Some time between 1881 and 1891 the McGrevy family moved to 128 Park Road, which was to become the home of some of this branch (and relatives) for the next 50 years. In the census of 1891 Elizabeth (recorded as Lizzie) is a Domestic housekeeper living with her parents and siblings at 128 Park Road.

1894 Elizabeth married Samuel Jabez Williams.  She claims 26, when she was 31.  She gives no occupation on her marriage certificate.  Elizabeth's father is James McGrevy, a shipwright.  Witnesses are James A Greenop (name unclear) and Susan McGrevy, Elizabeth's sister. It is presumed that she and Samuel went to live in Dorrit Street where their first child Lilian, was born later in 1894.

1896 Elizabeth's second child, Ellen, was born, also at Dorritt Street.

1900 The birth of John (Jack) is not traced yet so there is a gap of four years before the fourth known child of this marriage, Robert, is born and by now Elizabeth and Samuel have moved to Kirkdale, and to 5 Melrose Avenue.

1901 in the census Elizabeth and family are still at 5 Melrose Avenue

1904 Elizabeth's last child Mary is born, this is not yet traced but is assumed to be Liverpool.

1911 Samuel and Elizabeth are missing from Melrose Avenue in the 1911 Gore, someone else is living at number 5 and they are not at another number there. They are not found in Melrose Road at this time, but number 51 is missing from the directory which jumps from 50 to 52, missing 51.  They could well have been living there as early as this, a check of the electoral roll may confirm this. There are no clearly identifiable Samuel Williams in the alphabetical names in the 1911 Gore either. It is presumed that they have been missed out.

1926 Gore, Samuel (and presumably Elizabeth), a Gas Worker, at 51 Melrose Road
1934 Gore, Samuel (and presumably Elizabeth), a Gas Worker, at 51 Melrose Road
1936 Gore, Samuel (and presumably Elizabeth), a Gas Worker, at 51 Melrose Road
1938 Kelly (Gore) finds Samuel (and presumably Elizabeth), a Gas Worker, at 51 Melrose Road, in the house remembered by my father. They may well have been at this address prior to this.

1940 Husband Samuel died around this time and Elizabeth Williams (nee McGrevy) moved to43 Lambton Road to live with her daughter Mary Burke ( nee Williams -Auntie Minnie). Elizabeth lived there with her own sister Susan McGrevy (who also seems to have spent time at 32 Errol Street with the Christian family). Both ladies died on the same night in 1942 shortly before my father was called up in the September of 1942.  Elizabeth aged 78 (thus born about 1864) ). E. Watkins is the informant, this is Ellen nee Williams, her daughter, of 33 Bryanston Road.
Susan McGrevy
died on the same night also at 43 Lambton Road. The informant for Susan, aged 76, (thus born abt. 1866) is Elizabeth's daughter Mary Burke (nee Williams).
